I don’t know if anyone reads this anymore. But oh well, for whatever reason I feel the urge to write, and I guess I have nothing better to write about than the happenings of my so called life.
Work: Work is good. I really like my job. It keeps me pretty damn busy and it is a constant challenge, which I like. My last two paychecks were the largest I have ever received from any employer, and the next one has the potential to be even larger. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) most of it went towards paying off the balance on my sole credit card, which hasn’t had a balance of zero since I got it a year ago. Two cheers for getting closer to ridding myself of unnecessary debt. On the same token, if it wasn’t for this job I seriously think I would move. I am tired of this third world country known as New Mexico.
I moved about two months ago into a house. Apartment life can bite me. Seriously, I will have to be pretty hard up to ever live in apartment again. Not much else to say about it other than it’s also nice to not have to worry about malfunctioning laundry machines or noisy upstairs neighbors anymore. It is also closer to work, which has cut down on my commute time a good bit. The only downside is that for whatever reason cell service is nearly non existent at the house, but oh well.
Back in May I joined a gym. With the exception of weekends when I’ve been camping, out of town, or suffering from horrendous shin splints, I have gone six days a week, every week, sometimes even twice a day if I have nothing better to do. It is easily one of the best parts of my day. I honestly don’t know how much weight I’ve lost, and I don’t really care as I don’t have any set goal. I also quick drinking soda cold turkey and haven’t had any, diet or regular in over a month. This is probably the best physical shape I have been in, in years and it feels good.
I bought a new car. It is a 2003 (50th Anniversary) Chevy Corvette in Medium Spiral Gray Metallic. In other words it’s a dark graphite gray color. You may be asking: “You bought a V8 sports car with gas being over $3.00 a gallon?” The answer is yes, and it happens to get 30mpg on the highway; a hilly, winding, highway that was the route back from Denver where I got it, cruising at ~84mph in 6th gear. That’s nearly twice the gas mileage my truck gets. Oh, and the top comes off too. Let it be known that sunroofs/moonroof’s don’t have crap on a targa top. And just an FYI for those that may not know much about buying from car dealerships: Go on the last day of the month, or better yet the last day of the year. That’s when deals get made. I bought it on June 30th, and my advice was soundly proven. So far I love every minute of owning it. There really isn’t anything like being able to drive one of your dream cars everyday. |

| | content | ] | It's been a while since the last update, nothing this blog isn't familiar with. So here is a quick update of whats been happening. I quit working at the car dealership near the end of November. I started working for a local IT company right away in a sales position. We provide services and IT needs to local government, corporations and schools. I spend my day answering sales calls and fulfilling quote requests to customers. It keeps me very busy, and I enjoy it, and the people I work quite a bit. I was initially on a 3 month probation period, which was expected to end on or about today. However the guy that initially hired me, who I was helping to manage accounts unexpectedly quit via email first thing last Monday morning. This resulted in me being taken off of probation and given a promotion to his former position. I now do the work of two for the most part, but I am also getting compensated better for it, almost on par with what I was making back in Los Alamos.
Outside work I hang with my regular group of friends here on the weekend, occupying our time in various manners. Recently we all started going four wheeling regularly. This resulted in one of us buying a Quad, then two more friends followed suit. Growing tired of taking my truck and trying to keep up with quads, I gave in. I am now the proud owner of a 2007 Suzuki KingQuad 700. It packs 700cc's of fuel injected four stroke fury, complete with 4 wheel drive and lockers. Oh, and it can keep up with other 2wd more speed oriented quads just fine too. Fun stuff indeed. Hopefully I don't kill myself on it, haha.
I need to sell the Talon. I don't drive it, and I have lost interest in it. I think i want an '01+ BMW M3 Coupe. And I think I might just get one, once I get out of this apartment and into a house with a garage. And I hope to do this soon.
It seems my life is finally going in a good direction again, for the first time in a long time. I hope it continues in this manner. |

| Close call last night |
[Nov. 1st, 2006|11:37 am] |
I got a knock on my door at 3am asking if this Chevy was mine. It's not, but the Dodge is. I guess someone rammed it in the middle of the night, pushing the Mazda pickup at the same time. From what I know the driver left, though I imagine after an accident like this, he didn't get very far. No idea if they caught him. I really Dodged (har har) a bullet. They are towing it away as I type this.
